Fatal Accident: Vicksburg Resident Killed in Issaquena Collision
One person has tragically lost their life in a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning on U.S. Highway 61 in Issaquena County, near the Warren County border. The incident involved a 2007 Toyota Sequoia carrying four individuals. The vehicle veered off the road, flipped over into a ditch, resulting in the death of a passenger identified as Louis Qualls, 58, from Vicksburg. The driver, Demond Qualls, 24, and another passenger, Thomas Mitchell, 24, both from Greenville, were taken by ambulance to Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg. A third passenger, Kevin Lawrence, 23, from Vicksburg, had to be airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. The severity of their injuries is not yet known. The road was temporarily closed to facilitate the landing of a medical helicopter. Local emergency responders from Vicksburg and Warren County, including Vicksburg Fire Chief Trey Martin and Warren County FireBoss Jerry Briggs, provided assistance at the scene as requested by Magnolia Ambulance. The investigation is being conducted by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
