Fatal accident results in rollover crash and fire
A tragic accident took place on Labor Day 2025 in Callahan County at around 10 a.m., resulting in the death of a passenger. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the incident occurred when a vehicle traveling west on SH 36 near Mile Marker 328 drifted off the road, collided with a pole and trees, overturned, and caught fire. Despite the driver, Victor Duarte Jose, 31, surviving with severe injuries, the passenger, Ulises Moeno, 56, tragically did not survive. Jose was airlifted to Parkland Hospital for treatment while Moeno was pronounced deceased after being transported by Abilene Professional Services.
