Fatal accident on U.S. 24 Highway in Lafayette County
Tragedy struck on Monday on U.S. 24 Highway west of Waverly, resulting in one fatality and one injury in a single-vehicle accident. The incident occurred at the junction of U.S. 24 and Missouri Route BB. The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that a box truck heading east on U.S. 24 veered off the road's right side. Subsequently, the driver attempted to correct the course, leading to the truck overturning and both occupants being ejected. The passenger was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver was transported to the hospital for medical attention. The thorough investigation led to an extended closure of the roadway.
