Fatal accident on State Route 65 in Yuba County
A tragic accident occurred on State Route 65 at McGowan Parkway in Yuba County, resulting in a fatality on Wednesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol Yuba-Sutter responded to a traffic incident involving a vehicle rollover on the freeway in Yuba County. Emergency crews found a 2015 Toyota Camry with significant rollover damage on the right shoulder of southbound SR-65. Witnesses and first responders attempted life-saving measures, but the driver of the 18-year-old Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Toyota was attempting to pass the Honda in the center divider of SR-65, leading to the tragic accident. Thankfully, alcohol or drugs were not involved in the crash. SR-65 southbound was temporarily closed for about three hours for investigation and vehicle removal. The Yuba County Sheriff-Coroner will release more information once the next of kin have been notified.
