Fatal accident on SR 509 in Burien, WA.
An 18-year-old individual tragically passed away on Sunday evening following a solo car accident in Normandy Park, as reported by the Washington State Patrol. The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 p.m. on State Route 509 near South 160th Street. The driver, also 18 years old, was heading southbound in the right lane of SR 509, trying to overtake another vehicle by moving onto the right shoulder. However, he lost control of the car, leading to it hitting a tree, then a building, and spinning before hitting another tree. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on the right shoulder, facing the wrong direction. The driver was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
