Fatal accident on Owensboro Bypass
A tragic accident on the Owensboro Bypass has resulted in the loss of two lives, with one individual currently in critical condition. According to a statement from the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred between two vehicles in a head-on crash. Initial findings suggest that a passenger car traveling eastbound lost control near the Highway 54 off ramp, veered across the median, and collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling westbound. The impact caused the passenger car to ignite, leading to significant damage to both vehicles. Firefighters had to extricate the pickup truck driver after the fire was put out, and they were airlifted to a hospital in Louisville. Unfortunately, the driver and passenger of the sedan did not survive the crash. The road was closed for around five hours before reopening at 9:15 p.m. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
