Former West Virginia Delegate Doug Skaff tragically passed away in a vehicle accident on Tuesday, as confirmed by the West Virginia State Police. The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on June 10, when Skaff was driving on Interstate 79 and collided with the back of a tractor trailer. The press release from the State Police stated that both vehicles sustained significant damage, with Skaff being pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed. The crash took place near mile marker 101, between Jane Lew and Weston. The State Police will have a Crash Reconstructionist analyze the accident, as the investigation is ongoing. Skaff had a long standing career in the West Virginia House of Delegates, serving nearly 12 years before resigning from his position. He had further political aspirations, having run for West Virginia Secretary of State in 2024 and filed his candidacy for the state senate in 2026.
