Fatal accident on highway involving adult, toddler in median hit by truck avoiding disabled car
A tragic accident in Pottawattamie County has resulted in the loss of two lives, including a young child. The incident occurred on eastbound I-880 near the Iowa-Nebraska border on Sunday evening. A driver swerved to avoid a stopped SUV that had hit a deer, causing their pickup truck to collide with two individuals outside the SUV. The victims were identified as 27-year-old Til Baswa from Des Moines and a 2-year-old whose identity has not been disclosed. The driver of the truck was unharmed, and an investigation is ongoing. As of now, Iowa has seen 223 road fatalities this year, a decrease from the same period last year. On average, 353 people are killed in crashes across the state annually.
