Fatal accident on Highway 84 near Livermore
One person tragically lost their life in a devastating head-on collision that occurred on Highway 84 near Livermore on Tuesday evening, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident unfolded at approximately 6:19 p.m., prompting the closure of Highway 84 in both directions near I-680 and I-580. Caltrans relayed the roadblock announcement at 7:40 p.m., with CHP anticipating the closure to last until at least 9:30 p.m. The crash involved a gray Lexus and a blue Honda, leading to the fatal outcome for the Honda's driver and critical injuries for the Lexus driver. CHP's ongoing investigation led to the discovery that the Lexus, traveling westbound, lost control and veered into the eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with the Honda. CHP is currently conducting a thorough examination of the scene, causing blockage of one lane in each direction. To aid in transporting the critically injured Lexus driver to the hospital, a helicopter was summoned for assistance.
