Fatal accident on Highway 190 in Copperas Cove leaves two dead

A tragic accident occurred on Highway 190 in Copperas Cove on Thursday night, resulting in the loss of two lives. The incident, involving multiple vehicles and a vehicle fire, prompted an emergency response from the Copperas Cove Police Department at around 7:39 p.m. Several individuals required medical attention, with one being transported to a nearby hospital, another airlifted, and a third treated on site and released. The crash was reportedly caused by a vehicle attempting to pass in a no-passing zone at high speed, leading to a series of collisions involving six vehicles. Both the driver and passenger of the at-fault vehicle lost their lives in the accident. Due to the investigation, Highway 190 was closed from South FM 116 to Old Copperas Cove Road. The Coryell County Sheriff's Office, Texas DPS, and Fort Hood Criminal Investigation Division assisted at the scene. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending family notification. Those hospitalized are in stable condition, and the investigation remains ongoing with no further updates available at this time.
