Fatal accident on Chicago's Northwest Side

A fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Friday in Chicago's Belmont Terrace neighborhood when a man ran a red light, according to authorities. The incident took place at 2:10 a.m. on North Cumberland Avenue. Chicago police reported that a man, believed to be aged between 40 and 48, was driving a white vehicle westbound on Belmont Avenue when he disregarded a traffic signal and collided with a blue SUV traveling northbound on Cumberland. The driver of the white vehicle sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at Loyola Hospital. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. The 30-year-old SUV driver was unharmed and declined medical attention at the scene. No citations were issued, and detectives from Area Five are conducting an investigation.
