Fatal accident in Milwaukee after police pursuit; teenager killed, officers injured

A tragic incident occurred in Milwaukee when a police pursuit ended with a fatal crash involving a teenage driver and injuries to two officers on Wednesday night, Aug. 6. The chase began at around 7:15 p.m. when police attempted to stop a car for reckless driving in the Hopkins and Hampton area. The vehicle was also connected to a felony warrant. After the police signaled the driver to stop, the teen fled, leading to a pursuit. The chase concluded about a mile away at 19th and Hampton with the car crashing into a tree and catching fire. The family of the 17-year-old driver, Raki Henderson, expressed shock and disbelief over the incident, emphasizing that Henderson was not known for violent behavior. While Demita Prescott, Henderson's stepmother, could not explain why he did not stop for the police, she stressed the importance of avoiding such dangerous situations. The family hopes their message serves as a cautionary tale for others. Despite the tragic outcome, the Milwaukee Police Association president applauded the officers' professionalism and bravery in their attempts to save the teen, commending their resilience in a difficult situation. Henderson's family is now mourning the loss, while the injured officers are recovering from the incident.
