
Fatal accident in Calvert on Saturday night
Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a serious multi-vehicle collision that took place in Calvert, as confirmed by a recent post shared by the McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department on their Facebook page. This incident occurred on Saturday at 10:35 p.m. on Highway 43 in Calvert, a little less than a mile north of the Washington County line in the northbound lane. Upon arrival, the fire department found two vehicles engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, two individuals died as a result of the accident. The Fairford Volunteer Fire Department reported that it was a head-on collision involving two vehicles in the northbound lane of Highway 43. Both drivers, who were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles, lost their lives. The crash is currently being investigated by authorities. Multiple emergency response agencies, including the Fairford Volunteer Fire Department, Mount Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, McIntosh Police Department, Mount Vernon Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, were on the scene to provide assistance.
