Fatal Accident: Driver dies after vehicle plunges into Merrimack River
A tragic incident occurred on Friday morning when a vehicle driven by Juan Alonzo Perez Ramirez, 32, of Manchester, went into the Merrimack River near Interstate 293. The authorities were alerted by a witness who reported seeing the vehicle cross the shoulder on I-293 North before entering the river. The car, with Perez Ramirez as the sole occupant, was the only vehicle involved in the incident. A significant rescue operation, involving numerous first responders and water rescue team members, was necessary to recover Ramirez from the submerged vehicle. Despite their efforts, Ramirez was unconscious when extracted from the car, and unfortunately, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact Trooper Alex Peplinski.
