Fatal accident closes northbound I-25 in Northern Colorado
A fatal collision involving four vehicles has closed northbound lanes of I-25 at Crossroads Boulevard in Northern Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol indicated that a juvenile was the individual who lost their life in the accident. The event occurred in Loveland at approximately 12:27 p.m. on Tuesday and involved a box truck, a 2018 Lexus GX, a 2022 Kia Telluride, and a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer. According to CSP, the multi-vehicle crash was a subsequent incident following an earlier crash or emergency. Initially, there was a medical emergency involving a vehicle that pulled over and received medical assistance. The occupants of the Lexus – two adults and a minor – were taken to a nearby hospital. Sadly, the minor in the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no injuries reported from the Kia or the pickup truck. The condition of the box truck driver is still being evaluated. The closure of northbound lanes at mile marker 259, Crossroads Boulevard, is anticipated to be prolonged, with no specified timeline for reopening. Motorists are being redirected off I-25 onto Crossroads Boulevard due to the accident, causing significant traffic congestion in the area. The circumstances leading up to the collision are currently under investigation.
