Fatal accident claims life of tiffin man on Wednesday
A fatal crash occurred in Loudon Township on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the death of a man from Tiffin and injuries to two others. The incident took place on SR 18 near CR 5 around 2:56 p.m., as reported by authorities from the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The investigation revealed that the deceased, David A. Yates, 61, crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a vehicle operated by Deanna R. Sleek, 59, of Fostoria. Unfortunately, Yates was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deanna Sleek sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center in stable condition, while her passenger, Albert F. Sleek, 52, also sustained serious injuries but is in stable condition after being transported to Mercy Health — Tiffin Hospital. Multiple agencies provided assistance at the scene, and the incident is currently being investigated.
