Fatal accident claims life of Tiffin man
A devastating crash on Wednesday afternoon in Loudon Township resulted in the tragic death of a Tiffin man, while leaving two others injured. The accident occurred at around 2:56 p.m. on SR 18 near CR 5, as reported by officials from the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The investigation determined that David A. Yates, 61, veered into the eastbound lane while traveling west on SR 18, colliding head-on with a vehicle driven by Deanna R. Sleek, 59, of Fostoria. Sadly, Yates, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deanna Sleek sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, where she is currently in stable condition. Her passenger, Albert F. Sleek, 52, also suffered serious injuries but is stable after being transported to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital. Various local authorities, emergency services, and medical teams responded to the incident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
