Fatal accident at Oregon waterfall involves women from Texas and Florida, with one person missing, officials report

Oregon authorities have confirmed the identities of the victims in a tragic incident at a waterfall, while search efforts are ongoing for the missing person. Amanda Lloyd, 40, of Rockwall, Texas, and Lindsay Bashan, 33, of Parkland, Florida, were among those involved in the accident which occurred at Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River near Bend. The dangerous river section features a 15-foot drop with rapids filled with obstacles. The incident involved a group of six people on a linked inner tube ride, resulting in three survivors and three people swept into the rapids. Despite the challenging conditions, search crews have been commended for their efforts in aiding the families of the victims. Signs along the river typically alert recreationists to the dangerous drop, and three survivors were treated for minor injuries post-rescue. The Deschutes River is a popular summer destination for various water sports, offering activities such as rafting, inner tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
