Fatal accident at Colorado dairy claims 6 lives, including high school student

A tragic incident occurred on a farm in rural Colorado where six individuals, one of whom was a high school student, lost their lives. The Southeast Weld Fire Protection District responded to a distress call at the Prospect Valley Dairy near Denver, and upon arriving, discovered the deceased individuals inside a confined space on the premises. The authorities are looking into the possibility of gas exposure as the cause of death, pending autopsy and toxicology results from the Weld County Coroner’s Office. The deceased individuals were all male, though their identities and ages have not been disclosed. Meanwhile, the Weld RE-9 School District confirmed the student victim was from Highland High School and extended support services to those affected. UCHealth Greeley Hospital treated three additional patients related to the incident, who have since been discharged. The incident has also prompted an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Dairy Farmers of America expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and offered condolences to the families involved.
