Fatal 2-car collision in Hancock County
A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred in Hancock County on Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of a female driver in an Acura ILX. The incident took place at the intersection of County Road 600 East and U.S. Highway 40. Upon the arrival of Hancock County Sheriff's deputies, they found a 2017 Acura ILX and a 2012 Ford F-350 involved in the crash. The deceased driver was the sole occupant of the Acura, and efforts are being made to formally identify her and inform her family. The driver of the Ford F-350, a male juvenile, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to IU Methodist Hospital. Investigation revealed that the Acura was traveling northbound on County Road 600 East when it entered the path of the eastbound F-350, leading to the collision. The Acura driver failed to yield at a stop sign, whereas no stop signs were present for the F-350. The sheriff's office confirmed the cooperation of the F-350 driver and his parents in the ongoing investigation, with no suspicion of drugs or alcohol involvement. Westbound U.S. Highway 40 was temporarily closed for approximately two hours for crash response and clean-up.
