A recent high school graduate, Grant Herridge, the son of Pastor Brad Ray Herridge from Ocker Brethren Church in Temple, Texas, fell from a 50-foot waterfall at Olympic National Park on June 8. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Grant slipping while walking across rocks at the top of the waterfall. Despite efforts by the Olympic National Park Search and Rescue Team, Grant's body has not been recovered due to weather conditions halting the search. Grant's father described him as a vibrant individual, known for his adventurous spirit. Grant, who had plans to attend Baylor University in the fall, embarked on a trip to seven national parks to celebrate his graduation before the tragic incident. Grant's school, Vanguard College Preparatory, expressed their love and memories of him on Facebook, highlighting his positive impact on the school community.
