Family remembers 14-year-old girl killed in Sampson County wrong-way crash

NEWTON GROVE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Mount Olive community is mourning the loss of 14-year-old Beancy Flores, one of the three people who were killed in an early Saturday morning crash in Sampson County. CBS 17 News spoke to the only survivor, Alexandra Flores, who said she is cherishing the final moments she had with her sister. Alexandra said the two were having a girl's day on Friday. “We went to Starbucks and went shopping. We eventually saw that Michael Jackson movie and drove into Raleigh for it. That was the last thing we did,” Flores said. As she drove home on east Interstate 40 around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers said a Chevy Camaro going the wrong way smashed into her car. “All I remember was trying to save my sister," said Flores. "I remember telling the cops, 'You can leave me in here, just get her out,' but they took me out first and they wouldn’t tell me anything about her.” Alexandra Flores was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. She told CBS 17 News she has multiple lacerations on her arms and face as well a leg fracture.  Troopers said Beancy Flores died at the scene.  Family members said she was the youngest of five children and the light in their home.  “She was so loving and kind. Everyone loved her.” Troopers identified two people inside the Camaro later Saturday morning. According to troopers, Jonathan Toxtle Zacarias and Gabriel Toxtle Zacarias, both from Fayetteville, were in the Camaro when it hit the Honda. As the investigation unfolds, the Flores family reminds everyone to make smarter decisions while behind the wheel. “We don’t know what happened or what the drivers were thinking, but three lives were taken, and unfortunately my sister was one of them. We won’t get her back,” said Daneyri Vasquez, Beancy’s oldest sister. If you are interested in donating to the family’s GoFundMe, click here.
