Family in Albuquerque grieves father killed in multiple car collision
The Barrera family is grieving the loss of Cecil Barrera, who tragically passed away in a multi-vehicle car accident on I-40. Describing his father, Cecil David Barrera mentioned that Cecil had a warm and infectious smile, uplifting everyone around him. The accident occurred when another vehicle speeding on I-40 crashed into a barrier, causing a chain reaction that led to a fiery collision involving Cecil's car. Despite trying to brake in time, Cecil's car slid under a semi-truck and caught fire. He was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Known for his passion for low-riding since the age of 15, Cecil was driving his 1958 Chevrolet Impala at the time of the crash, a car he was preparing to sell. His family shared that Cecil had a deep connection with his vehicles, almost treating them like magic and expressing immense love for them. Beyond his love for cars, Cecil also had a strong interest in boxing, holding certifications to train boxers. Melissa Barrera, his daughter, expressed that she and her siblings, along with her dad's 12 grandchildren, will carry on his legacy and teachings. As authorities continue to investigate the crash, no charges have been filed yet.
