Family hires lawyer after man's MRI accident with heavy chain.
The family of a man who tragically passed away in a rare incident involving an MRI machine in New York is preparing to take legal action following the event. Last week, 61-year-old Keith McAllister suffered three heart attacks after being drawn into the magnetic field of an MRI at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, ultimately leading to his death. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a 20-pound chain. Now, his family has enlisted the services of a lawyer to pursue accountability in connection with the incident, as per a report from the New York Post. The family has sought the representation of attorney Michael Lauterborn, from Smith, Cheung and Lauterborn, PC. Lauterborn expressed the importance of safety measures at medical imaging facilities and emphasized the family's commitment to assisting authorities in their investigations, ensuring accountability, and avoiding similar tragedies in the future. McAllister's widow, Adrienne Jones-McAllister, was undergoing a knee scan when the accident occurred. The family disputes initial reports that McAllister entered the MRI room unauthorized and clarified that he was escorted in by a technician. The family attempted to free McAllister themselves before seeking police assistance. Both Smith, Cheung and Lauterborn, PC and Nassau Open MRI were approached for comments by Fox News Digital.
