Families of flathead victims seek justice after DUI incident

It has been close to eight months since a suspected drunk driver caused a tragic accident near Bigfork that led to the death of 33-year-old Wyatt Potts, his unborn child, and left Teressa Brandt severely injured. A jury trial is tentatively scheduled for September 8 for the accused, 41-year-old Dal Segall of Corvallis. The families of the victims are determined to ensure that justice is served and their voices are fully heard. Wyatt Potts' Stepdad, Rick Latta, expressed concern that the legal proceedings have been conducted over Zoom, allowing Segall to avoid facing the families impacted by his actions. Segall has pleaded not guilty to charges including Vehicular Homicide While Under the Influence. Teressa Brandt’s sister, Amanda Sharpe, shared frustration with the lack of communication from the district attorney’s office and the families' lack of input on potential plea deals. Segall is currently out on bail, awaiting trial. Latta emphasized the importance of Segall facing a jury trial to confront the evidence and take responsibility for his actions, while Sharpe highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by Teressa as she continues to recover from the accident. The families continue to advocate for justice for the victims and hope for a fair legal process moving forward.
