F/A-18 and Sea Hawk helicopter accidents in the South China Sea
In separate incidents on Sunday, a Navy fighter jet and a helicopter crashed in the South China Sea, as reported by the Navy. The crew members from both aircraft were safely rescued. The U.S. Pacific Fleet mentioned that an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter from the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 73 "Battle Cats" crashed during routine operations. All three crew members were rescued. Shortly after, an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter from the Strike Fighter Squadron 22 "Fighting Redcocks" also crashed during routine operations, and its two crew members were rescued by search and rescue teams. The Pacific Fleet confirmed that all crew members were in stable condition and added that the causes of the crashes were being investigated.
