Evacuation at Los Angeles City Hall due to car crash and suspicious package; suspect references Donald Trump

The Los Angeles City Hall was evacuated on Friday after an individual reportedly crashed their vehicle into the steps outside around 4:08 pm, according to reports from Los Angeles Alerts and Fox LA reporter Matthew Seedorff. The driver is said to have a suspicious package and was refusing to exit the vehicle until a reporter with a camera spoke to him. It has not been confirmed if the crash was intentional yet as per the Los Angeles Times. Officials have been trying to communicate with the driver, who has remained inside the vehicle since the incident. Surrounding streets and freeway off-ramps are being shut down as authorities respond to the situation. The suspect allegedly mentioned having an oxygen tank and a knife in the car. Signs with messages like ‘I need your help’ and “Don't want to hurt nobody” were reportedly seen inside the vehicle, along with a note addressed to President Donald Trump. Despite the tense situation, no injuries have been reported so far. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has been briefed on the incident and expressed gratitude to the first responders on the scene. SWAT teams are reportedly on their way to the area as officials work to resolve the situation. This incident occurs amidst heightened political tensions in the US following the recent events, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10.
