Emergency vehicles in separate accidents in Manchester
A rollover accident involving an ambulance occurred on Wednesday morning in Manchester, with a police cruiser later being involved in a separate crash on Tarrytown Road near Elliot Hospital. The ambulance collided with a car before overturning, resulting in significant damage to the car's front end. The ambulance was responding to a call, and although there were no patients onboard, two medics were trapped and had to be rescued through the ambulance's windshield. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening. In a separate incident, an officer responding to the ambulance crash was involved in a collision on Valley Street near Jewett Street. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and the officer, along with two individuals from the other vehicle, were taken to Elliot Hospital for treatment. Efforts were being made to upright the ambulance on Tarrytown Road, causing a closure between Nelson Street and Massabesic Street.
