Elderly person killed in Valrico pedestrian crash

VALRICO, Fla. (WFLA) — An elderly person was killed in Valrico late Wednesday night after being struck by a car while crossing the street. The Florida Highway Patrol said the 68-year-old Valrico man was crossing SR-60 near Taho Circle and was not using a crosswalk. A Toyota Corolla, driven by a 52-year-old Dover man, and a Toyota Camry, driven by a 26-year-old Zephyrhills woman, were traveling eastbound on SR-60, with the Camry driving behind the Corolla. The victim walked into the path of the vehicles and was struck by both cars. He was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The vehicles remained on scene, and the drivers cooperated with police, FHP said. The crash closed eastbound SR-60 for a few hours early Thursday morning. FHP will continue to investigate the crash.
