Elderly driver detained after deadly crash in Danville
A 73-year-old man from Danville was recently taken into custody by the local police in connection with a fatal two-vehicle accident that took place on March 1. Andrew Chao is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, according to an official statement from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office. He was arrested and is currently being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on a bail set at $50,000. The incident occurred at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon, where a minivan collided with a truck resulting in the truck overturning. Unfortunately, a passenger lost their life in the crash, with the minivan driver sustaining only minor injuries.
