UPDATE as of Sept. 21 at 11:50 a.m: A report by the Kentucky State Police indicates that Montgomery County Sheriff David Charles was struck by a Kia Telluride while responding to a two-vehicle crash. Sheriff Charles and the individuals in the Kia were transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. The incident occurred while the sheriff was outside of his vehicle. Authorities anticipate reopening the road soon. Earlier, the eastbound lanes of I-64 were closed near the 113-mile marker following an accident involving Sheriff Charles.
