Eagle Pass crash kills 1, leaves another critically hurt

One person was killed in a major crash on El Indio Highway in Eagle Pass. The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. near Sam Houston Elementary School and involved a head-on collision. The Eagle Pass Leader News reports that a man about 19 or 20 years old died at the scene, while the driver was seriously injured. The Eagle Pass Fire Department said one person died at the scene and a second person was rescued from the car and taken to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Authorities temporarily shut down El Indio Highway while crews cleared debris and investigators documented the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Eagle Pass News Leader reported that heavy rain was falling in the area around the time of the crash, but authorities have not said whether weather contributed to the collision.
