Dump truck driver arrested, charged in connection with deadly Ossipee crash, state police say

A dump truck driver has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly crash in Ossipee, state police said. New Hampshire State Police said Robert Gifford, 54, of Rochester was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated in connection with a deadly crash on Route 28 on Friday morning.Gifford was driving a Mack dump truck when he collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Dorothy Marshall, 80, of Ossipee, state police said. Marshall died as a result of the crash, authorities said.Gifford was going north on Route 28 when he lost control of the dump truck, which rolled over and hit Marshall who was going in the opposite direction, state police said. Gifford was not injured. Route 28 was closed for about 7 1/2 hours while the investigation was conducted and the vehicles and debris were removed, state police said.>> Subscribe to WMUR's YouTube channel <<Gifford is being held without bail at the Carroll County Department of Corrections pending an arraignment scheduled for Monday.
