DUI crash causes power outage in Citrus Heights, impacting hundreds, say police

Police in Citrus Heights arrested a driver suspected of driving under the influence after the driver crashed into a power pole on Monday. This resulted in a power outage affecting numerous residents in the area. The incident took place at around 5:41 p.m. on Auburn Boulevard near Manzanita Avenue. The driver, 36-year-old Jose Manuel Haro from Sacramento, was taken into custody and booked at Sacramento County Jail. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the crash. About 700 customers were initially without power, and as of 9:15 p.m., approximately 111 customers were still affected. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) estimates power to be restored by 11:45 p.m. Auburn Boulevard is closed between Shadow Lane and Manzanita Avenue as investigations continue.
