
Drunk driver causes fatal wrong-way crash in San Jose: CHP
Early on Monday morning, a suspected DUI driver who was heading the wrong way on a San Jose highway collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of a passenger. The tragic incident occurred around 2:18 a.m. on Highway 87, just north of Taylor Street. Law enforcement officers found that a Dodge Durango was traveling in the opposite direction when it crashed into a Nissan Altima. Both passengers in the vehicles were taken to the hospital with severe injuries. Tragically, the passenger in the Nissan did not survive. The driver of the Dodge was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Highway 87 lanes were reopened to traffic by 4 a.m.
