Drunk driver blamed for deadly accident near Henry's Lake
According to a recent statement from the Idaho State Police, the driver responsible for a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of seven individuals near Yellowstone National Park was found to be significantly intoxicated. A blood alcohol content of 0.20 was reported by ISP, which is more than double the legal limit of 0.08. The incident occurred on May 1 on U.S. Highway 20 close to Henry's Lake. Captain Chris Weadick from the ISP commented that this heartbreaking event should serve as a sobering reminder of the grave consequences of impaired driving. He emphasized the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel, as impaired driving not only violates the law but can also have deadly outcomes. Authorities highlighted that crashes related to alcohol continue to be a major contributor to traffic fatalities in Idaho. As summer approaches, Bryan Young, the Operations Manager at ITD, pointed out the increased activity on Idaho's roads, urging vigilance to prevent further tragedies. ISP has collaborated with the Idaho Transportation Department to enhance DUI enforcement and public awareness during the summer months. Citizens are encouraged to report suspected instances of impaired driving by dialing *ISP (*477) or 911 if they witness concerning driving behavior.
