In Anderson County, South Carolina, a woman facing charges for fleeing the scene of a crash has had her charge upgraded by the Williamston Police Department. Erica Lynn Rosser, aged 49, is now accused of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death following the tragic passing of pedestrian Bobby Joe Sims. The incident occurred on May 28 on South Hamilton Street, where Sims was hit by a vehicle allegedly driven by Rosser. Despite being airlifted to a nearby hospital, the 72-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries on June 2. Rosser was apprehended on the same day as the crash and charged by the police for leaving the scene without rendering aid or alerting emergency services. Initially charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily injury, her charge was elevated after consultation with the 10th Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office. Additionally, Rosser faces a charge of driving under suspension. The Williamston PD continues to investigate this tragic incident, with updates and potential further charges to be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
