Driver with prior DUI arrested after fatal crash in Manhattan Beach

Jenia Belt, a 33-year-old woman who allegedly drove under the influence and is accused of causing the death of 18-year-old Braun Levi, a high school senior at Loyola High School, was reportedly driving with a suspended license due to a previous drunk-driving arrest, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. The tragic incident occurred in Manhattan Beach around 12:45 a.m. when Belt, who was arrested on charges of DUI and homicide, struck and fatally injured Levi near Sepulveda Boulevard and Ronda Drive. Levi was found lying on the street next to Belt's SUV and was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Belt's license had been suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles earlier for a prior DUI-related offense, and despite this, she was involved in the fatal accident. Meanwhile, Levi, a talented tennis player and beloved member of his community, had recently endured the loss of his family's home in a fire. His family plans to honor his memory by establishing a scholarship fund in his name and hosting a memorial event at Loyola High School for all who knew and cared for Braun. The case is yet to be presented to the District Attorney's Office, and Belt remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
