A driver sustained serious injuries after a crash and vehicle fire on Interstate 295 South in Henrico County on Friday. The incident occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on September 12, prompting a response from Virginia State Police troopers to the scene near Mill Road. The single vehicle involved ran off the highway, crashed, and ignited. Emergency responders transported the driver, who was the sole occupant, to a nearby hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. As of 6:27 p.m., the southbound left and center lanes are shut down, as reported by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
