Driver sentenced for deadly drunk driving accident that claimed life of Las Vegas high school student

In Las Vegas, a man was sentenced to potentially spending up to 20 years in prison for causing the death of an 18-year-old high school senior earlier this year. The man, identified as Keenan Jackson, was driving under the influence when he collided with McKenzie Scott near Arbor View High School. Judge Mary Kay Holthus delivered the 8-20 year sentence, with Jackson already having served 190 days. Scott, who tragically passed away just before her graduation, was struck by Jackson's vehicle on May 2. Jackson's blood-alcohol level was recorded at 0.29, significantly higher than Nevada's legal limit of 0.08. Possibility for parole may arise after eight years, though statistics show most offenders in similar cases serve the minimum sentence. Stay tuned for updates on this News 8 Now investigation.
