Driver sentenced for deadly accident on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis

A man named Talon Covie-Cadrell Walker, aged 30, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a judge for his role in a DWI crash that occurred in Minneapolis. The crash resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to 10 others. After police found an open bottle of liquor at the crash site involving seven vehicles on Lyndale Avenue in October 2024, Walker received the sentence of 120 months, with credit for 344 days already served. The victim, 26-year-old Natalie Gubbay, was pronounced dead at the scene. Walker was determined to have been driving above 100 mph and over the legal alcohol limit, with an open bottle of liquor in his vehicle. He pleaded guilty to charges of criminal vehicular homicide and operation. The Hennepin County Attorney's Office expressed that the sentencing was in line with Minnesota guidelines due to the severity of the incident. The Attorney also highlighted the impact of Walker's actions on the victims and emphasized the importance of safe driving choices. Witnesses reported Walker driving at approximately 100 mph at the time of the crash, which involved seven vehicles and left a trail of damage. Walker had prior offenses, including a DWI arrest in 2021. In total, 10 people, including Walker, were injured in the crash, with nine taken to the hospital.
