
Driver receives 9-year sentence for deadly DUI collision on East Belle Terrace
In Bakersfield, California, a man was sentenced to nine years in prison for causing a fatal rollover crash while driving under the influence on East Belle Terrace. Cristian Escobar-Rodriguez, 31, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after his blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.15%. The victim, 30-year-old Andrea Navarro, died in the crash. Judge Tiffany Organ-Bowles acknowledged the tragedy, emphasizing that no one plans to harm others by driving drunk. The incident occurred early on April 3, 2023, when a car carrying four individuals flipped over after soaring over a canal and through a fence. Navarro was pronounced dead at the scene. Escobar-Rodriguez, who was driving, expressed remorse and admitted to consuming alcohol before the accident.
