Driver named in fatal Anderson County collision
The Anderson County Coroner's Office was called to the scene of a collision on Friday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Mays Street in Pendleton, when the driver of a vehicle lost control while turning onto Mays Street from Highway 76 and crashed into a parked tractor-trailer. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Whitney Gillespie from Brevard, North Carolina, passed away due to blunt force trauma to the head. Another passenger was airlifted to the hospital. The coroner has classified the manner of death as accidental. The crash is currently being investigated.
