Driver killed when car crashes into water filled ditch in Kosciusko County

WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) A man died Wednesday morning after crashing his car into a water filled ditch northwest of Warsaw according to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. The crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. on CR 300 West, about a half-mile north of CR 1350 in Jefferson Township. When emergency responders got to the scene they found a Toyota Prius overturned in the ditch. The driver, identified as Derek T. Anderson, 35, of Bourbon, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner. Investigators determined that Anderson was driving south when he crossed the center line and went off the east side of the road. The Prius hit a sign post and a guardrail before rolling and coming to rest in the ditch. No other people were in the car. The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Lutheran EMS, Milford PD & Fire, Nappanee PD, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Crouse Wrecker Service, and Kosciusko County Dive Rescue.
