Driver killed, passenger uninjured in North Augusta crash
A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred in North Augusta on Saturday night, resulting in the death of one individual. The North Augusta Department of Public Safety responded to the incident on I-520 at I-20 around 9:15 p.m. The vehicle, which was exiting onto I-20 towards Augusta, veered off the road, striking the guard rail. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene, while the passenger escaped unscathed. The North Augusta Public Safety Traffic Division and the Aiken County Coroner's Office were dispatched to the site, and the driver's identity remains unknown. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated in this ongoing situation.
