Driver killed in fiery crash at Greenwich's Byram Park identified as Stamford man.

Eugene Banks, a 60-year-old man from Stamford, was identified as the driver who tragically lost his life in a crash near Byram Park, confirmed Greenwich Police Information Officer Captain Patrick Smyth. A few people were seen entering Byram Park on Oct. 6, where evidence of the car crash included a burned tree with stripped bark, a wooden cross, and a heartfelt bouquet of flowers inscribed with messages like "Eugene," "RIP," and "We Love You." Upon responding to a call at the park entrance, emergency personnel worked to put out the flames from the car that had caught fire around 5:15 a.m. The incident is still being investigated by the police.
