Driver killed in crash while attempting record on Bonneville Salt Flats
Tragedy struck at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah, on Sunday during the yearly SpeedWeek event as a fatal accident occurred. The Southern California Timing Association (SCTA), the event organizer, reported that Chris Raschke, aged 60, passed away after losing control of his vehicle while attempting to break a land speed record around 3 p.m. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Raschke succumbed to his injuries. The Tooele County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the incident and initiated an investigation, while the SCTA is also conducting its own inquiry into the crash.
