Driver in Pilot Point cyclist crash was unlicensed at time of accident: report
The individual involved in a tragic accident resulting in the death of two cyclists in Pilot Point was revealed not to possess a valid driver's license at the time of the incident, according to the crash report. The 23-year-old driver admitted to authorities that he was not focused on the road when the accident occurred. The report also indicated that the driver fled the scene initially but later returned. Furthermore, it was discovered that the driver was speeding. Notably, the driver did not have a driver's license upon the crash but was in possession of a Texas identification card. The driver remains unnamed and has yet to face formal charges. Pilot Point Police Department has been contacted by FOX 4 to inquire about potential legal actions, yet there has been no response as of now. The tragic event took place when emergency services were alerted to a collision involving two cyclists on FM 455 East near Fritcher Road. The cyclists, Andre Kocher and Scott Mages, were participating in a group ride organized by the Frisco Triathlon Club when the incident occurred. A friend of the deceased cyclists, Tommy Johnson, expressed his views on the matter, highlighting that the crash could have been avoided through responsible driving and emphasized the need for accountability in such cases. Johnson, who had a close bond with both victims, reflected on the risks cyclists encounter on the road and the vulnerability they face in interactions with motorists.
