Driver in Oceanside hit-and-run crash arrested for DUI in fatal incident

A 65-year-old woman was taken into custody after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run incident in Oceanside that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. Authorities were alerted to the incident on eastbound Oceanside Boulevard near El Camino Real around 10:20 p.m. The victim, a male pedestrian, passed away due to the injuries sustained. Through the use of surveillance technology, officers were able to trace the suspected vehicle involved in the crash to a 2020 Ford Ranger registered to Yolanda Orozco, an Oceanside resident. Following an investigation at Orozco's residence, where the vehicle was found with evidence indicating involvement in the collision, police confirmed that Orozco admitted to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the incident and displayed signs of intoxication. She was subsequently arrested on charges of felony hit-and-run, with potential additional DUI-related charges pending further investigation.
