
Driver in incident at East Hollywood club faces 37 attempted murder charges
A man has been charged with 37 counts of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after crashing his car into a crowd outside an East Hollywood nightclub. Fernando Ramirez, 29, faces potential life in prison for the incident which left dozens injured. Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman stated Ramirez was thrown out of the nightclub, but later returned and drove his vehicle into the crowd early in the morning on July 19. Despite 36 people sustaining injuries, no fatalities were reported, with eight victims suffering serious fractures and injuries. Hochman praised the quick response of law enforcement and firefighters for preventing further casualties. Ramirez, who has a history of criminal convictions, will appear in court on Wednesday. The incident occurred during a dance party at the club, but the motive behind Ramirez's actions is still unknown.
